Action Plan-1
The first suggestion to make a difference, has come in from Jatin & Apurv:
The objective:
Create an appraisal system for the performance of Politicians & Government officials.
The suggestions:
An appraisal system controlled by the people.
6 monthly reporting system.
Make public the duties/promises made by the Politicians & the Govt. Officials to the public.
Systematic chaseup on non-compliance.
In case of non-compliance in given time frame, the public must be given the power to boot officials & politicians out of office (whether they have finished their term or not).
The Action Plan:
We are all educated and responsible citizens of this country & we are here because we care. However we are sure that not all of us can come up with the best answers to our questions. We therefore need all of us to come together with our suggestions, comments, ideas and experiences, to create an action plan, which works within the system and can still get results.
Remember if we can come together today, we can make tommorow a better place.
We have seen time and again our political system fail in delivering on its promises. Basic issues apart, even our very existence is not of importance to them. They fail to realise that it is not the renowned 'Spirit of Mumbai', but infact the necessasity of it's people that they must show a brave face and step out to work, the very next morning. And yet, we remain a demoracy, and these are our very own elected representatives who rule this great country.
So what is going wrong here?
And why is our quality of life & infact our lives itself, not as good/important as those of our Western counterparts?
This blog is meant for like minded people like us, who want to come together and bring about a change.
A change in the way people think about politics.
A change in the way systems are run.
A change in the responsibility shown by politicians.
We want answers.
We want time-bound results.
We want accountability.
We want the best standards of living for all our people.
How do we go about this.
Well this is a little platform from where we build our base.

I have a few points to make to bring about a metamorphic change in this corrupt system:
Firstly, I suggest that there should be complete transparency in whatever the politicians do. Everything should be tracked - How much money is assigned to a certain project, how is the money routed, who gets the money, how he spends the money on the assigned task, etc. Let not only a few government officials monitor these things. This monitoring and accountability should be made public, should be open to the citizens of India.
Secondly, policy on terrorism and any intelligence information that relates to such terror strikes should also be shared with public and not only a handful of politicians or police. So that in the event of such terror strikes we ourselves would be ready to combat the situation.
Thirdly, the Police should be de-coupled from politicians and ministers. This would make them more efficient and less prone to succumb to their undue pressures and demands.
After all this is our country and it is our job too to see to it that there is peace and harmony around.
Together we can, together we will!
Jai Hind!!!

Every time we choose a new politician but time and time all the politicians have failed to fuilfill their responsibility, i think now its a high time we need to make some changes, there should be a legal procedure for all the politician we should set some criteria or eligibilty regarding age, qualification, criminal back ground, and etc, so that we are sure that our country destination is in safe hand who is well educated and in a right age to take decission, non of the politician should be allowed to stand in election who are not educated and having criminal back ground

Hey Manish,
I really liked your views posted on your blog. Makes a lot of sense, starting from micro issues. It does bring about phenomenal change.
And it is very practical as well.
Would love to hear more. Please share with everyone else here. Thanks.
Dear Friends,
I have copy pasted one of My e-mail I have sent to then Chief Minister of Maharashtra as well as their party head Mrs. Sonia Gandhi.
Please take a note. This mail was sent to them on 6th November 2008 at around 2.30 am.
Dear Chief Minister,
Its very painful to inform you that the Mumbai cities "face value is slowly degrading from every side. I will list few of the sectors where your government has totaly ignored the expectations of the people of this city.
1. Infrastructure : Its very slow in terms of implementation. There is no innovation and no creativity in terms of various implemented projects. The overall roads are in a bad condition ( Please dont blame that it doenst comes under your control etc..as people of mumbai will vote to the respective parties by judging their leaders attitude). I dont know even their repeated gross negligence of the road contractors, your government is still dependent on these contractors even though they dont have any kind of respect to this city and its image make over.
2. Cleanliness : Its obsolutely in a mess. The people of this great nation is living in a very filthiest manner. Thats why we Indians were hardly respected by the foreigners because the way our fellow Indians live here. No concreate action plan is unfolded till date and no vision on this segment. Every now and then during the change of seasons, diseases spread and casualties increases and then every body forgets it.
3. Transportation : Except for the BEST, we dont have any other mode of transport which is commandable. As you know the status of the crowded trains. People of this country travels in a most inhuman condition. Lot of learned men sitting at Mantralay (the most highly brainy species gentlmen.. I am talking about IAS officials) has not taken any step till today as a permenant solution to this pathetic conditon of our fellow Indians. Please dont point out to me that your government is comming out with Metro etc. I just wanted to clarify you that Metro was meant for Delhi, and not for Mumbai. Because Mumbai's lifestyle is totally different from that of Delhi. Please take a note. And to my knowledge we being a economic capital of this great nation has not made any leading innovation in tackling the peoples predicament. We're just copying the other states. Everybody strongly believed that by constructing fly-overs will definitely will solve the problem of Mumbai traffics. Still it takes me half hour to just travel a distance of about 4 Kms from Sion Koliwada to Kalanagar. Actually it should not take more than 10 minutes to cover this distance. If you take the average speed of the public transport system on roads will be only of about 10 - 12 Kms per hour.
4. Electricity : Its very pathetic. Except mumbai, to be precise greater mumbai there is no gurantee that the people of this state has any gurantee to get the 24/7 power supply. Mumbai/Maharashtra was recognised once long back as the place where electricity and water supply were at surplus. But as of today you know people from this state are starving for this basic facility. If you go to the country side, I think the government is not at all considering them as human beings because there the supply is only after 7 or 8 pm.
5. Individual Security : Once considered as a crown of this city has been slowly damaged by your fellow "Politician Brothers". And being on the helm of affair you are just watching the situation with folded hands. Do you think this will help you and your party any more? Instead it will damage the very nature of your own party since people were only trusting your party all these days that you will act neutrally but in vain. I dont know, even during earlier days your people have acted in the same manner when the very secular nature of this country was broken by another nationalist party who have permenantly divided this country on communal lines. Even that time there was not a single action from your precedors to show that they are neutral. As they popularly say "The History Repeats Itself", now its being visible to everybody of this country.
A person who was considered as brain behind all the troubles of one of our neighbouring states has cooly grabbed one of the prestegious project under our nose. Have you or collegues ever thought why it has happened to us? It was a prestage to get that project to our state, even though your own government is at the centre, and some of our MPs are holding a very highly respectfull and powerful ministerial post at the Union Government but still we lost to that state?
Dear Chief, please dont be under the impression that I am here to just blame you or your conuterparts. We people are expecting some kind of dynamism in your act which is missing for a long period of time. Actually we people love this country as well this city/state with utmost passion thats why we cant see our city is getting degraded on our own naked eyes.
Already your party has lost its strength due to various mistakes done by then elders of the party. Hope those things will not be repeated. At the same time please dont ever think that people dont have any alternative other than yours. No doubt that people who believes on secular trend will never switch over to the communal forces. At same time they will not sit idle also.
Please act and save this city, save this state and save this country.
Regards,
Muthukkumar.
Mumbai.
Hi Paddy,
We are also not sure how we will implement this but we think we can do and the only way we would be able to achieve this is to find out ways to do it we may require people from various walks of life, to begin with someone from Political Science background. I am sure we can have a Appraisal system but implementation wont be easy, if we don't attempt then we would never know if it was really difficult or not. There has to be start somewhere.
I aggree with you that we just should not concentrate on security, but if we have a system we will as well have an overall Appraisal System for
Govt./beauracrats etc etc.
I saw your blog and it is intresting too.Let us bump into each other sometime soon. We are a group of 8-10 guys who have come together as of now and are sure to double up next time we meet, we would like you to be a part of it. We wil inform you when we guys meet ,see if you can make it and share your ideas and suggestions.
Lets keep the fire burning together !!!
Jatin Sanghvi
we pay taxes for our protection or for thier(politicians) .. What if we dont pay tax for a year so that govt ko pata chale ki public or not fools ... hamesha openlt public ko fools karthe hai.
pritesh
he guys discussing in this way will not help in any wayss... so its better if we meet and discuss everything and make plans.. pls reply to this
Hi Pritesh,
Thanks for your comments. Your point is absolutely valid. Why do we pay taxes when we all know that most of the money is never going to be used for us in the first place.
And your absolutely right again in saying that we need to meet up, so this energy can be channelised into more serious actions. And believe me this is exactly what we are planning for.
But Pritesh please understand as high as the energy is right now, we need it to be channelised properly to its logical conclusion.
To get to the meeting stage, there are a few things that need to be put into place.
Firstly, we need practical & workable ideas on how we can bring about a change.
Once shortlisted we transform them into action plans.
We will then need to ensure that we have complete information on what we are talking about & what we want to do (a SWOT per say).
Post this, we meet.
This will essentially avoid confusion & clashes of views.
When we meet we must all know our proposed action plans.
At the meeting stage we should be able to fine tune these plans, iron out the loopholes & come at a point where we can actually delegate tasks among ourselves.
Put our plans to work.
i totally agree with u ...wat u say will happen and soon going to happen..but its better if we do it as soon as possible ..coz we dont know what will happen tomorrow
Hey good job guys...
Even I am on the same lines...
